Campus-Based Third-Year Review

THE FOLLOWING IS A Missouri S&T CAMPUS PROGRAM, AND IS NOT A PART OF THE ACADEMIC TENURE REGULATIONS

There have been problems over the years with conflicting recommendations from various advisory committees on tenure cases. The following effort is aimed at reducing these conflicts by: (1) encouraging a common level of expectation in the department, division, and campus reviews and (2) providing timely counsel to a faculty member relative to progress toward tenure.

We are continuing a program which will provide the opportunity for tenure-seeking assistant professors to obtain a campus perspective on their performance. This review will provide supportive advice to the individual. The review will be carried out by a broad-based counseling team. This team will consist of two members of the campus Promotion and Tenure Committee, one member of the candidate's divisional Promotion and Tenure Committee, the Dean or Dean's designate, and one member of the department's Promotion and Tenure Committee.
